By Oct. 10, Comet ISON should be close enough to the sun that a wide-angle instrument on NASA芒聙聶s Solar Terrestrial Relations Observatories, STEREO-A, should be able to get its first glimpse of the comet as well. At that point, Comet ISON will be about 94.5 million miles from the sun. In November, the comet should be within range of NASA芒聙聶s Mercury-orbiting MESSENGER spacecraft.
