One can read those novels without having right-wing-Mormon-homophobia blast out at you. In fact, the second novel, Speaker for the Dead, has very touching writing about coming to an understanding of your hated enemies. I took it as a pro-peace, reach-out-to-others message. I highly recommend the books to adults and teenagers.
