I took a trip with the Intrepid Travel group and during the tour I stayed overnight with the group for three nights on a ranch near Tacuarembo. We went horse riding on the first full day there and later on our trek back to the ranch campfire we were treated to a breathtaking show of sparkling stars against a backdrop of sheer black night sky. Being that close to the equator at that time of year, the shooting stars were dazzling. The stars lit the path home for us. The horses seemed to instinctively know which way was home and it felt like the stars were guiding us.
